Scotland Gas Boiler Scrappage Scheme is now closed.
With the Scottish Boiler Scrappage Scheme receiving a huge level of interest the Energy Saving Trust have today announced that all vouchers have been allocated. The scheme started on the 24th May 2010, with 5,000 households in Scotland who have working "G-rated" boiler able to claim a voucher. The Scottish Government will provide a voucher worth £400 off the price of a new, modern Energy Saving Trust Recommended boiler.
The scheme will help to save around 5,000 tonnes CO2 per year - equivalent to taking 1,700 cars off the road. Go to the Energy Saving Trust website for further details Energy Saving Trust
New boilers have rated efficiencies of 90 per cent or more meaning that they use less fuel, resulting in lower CO2 emissions and running costs.
For example, this means by upgrading your G-rated boiler to an Energy Saving Trust Recommended one, your household heating bill should drop by about a quarter - a saving of around £235 a year for a 3 bed semi-detached house.
The current range of Ariston gas boilers are Energy Saving Trust Recommended and are therefore eligible as part of this scheme.
