Ariston Gas Boilers for Genesis Housing Group Development
Ariston has supplied a total of 74 E-COMBI boilers for the Genesis Housing Group development at Pier Road, Newham. Located in two four-storey blocks and one five-storey block, the one-, two- and three-bedroom flats offer various types of accommodation to the local community. These include properties for private purchase, affordable housing, and shared ownership where a part buy/part rent arrangement assists first-time buyers to get on the housing ladder for the first time. Pier Road is part of a major urban regeneration programme, providing a high density, mixed-use redevelopment of a brownfield site in Docklands.

At Pier Road, the Ariston E-COMBI condensing boilers were selected by mechanical and electrical consultants, Mendick Waring Associates who had used the boilers previously.A spokesman commented, “The E-COMBI boilers were selected for this project as they require a fall of only 5mm per metre on the flue going back to the boiler. This feature was particularly important in this instance, as the kitchens are centrally located within the flats and it meant that it was possible to accommodate the flue within the height of the false ceiling.”

A spokesman for installers, C Watkins Plumbing added, “We had long flue runs on this project so the low fall rate required by the Ariston boiler made it the only viable option in order to avoid boxing-in the flue where it came out of the ceiling.”

A spokesman for the main contractors, Allenbuild, commented on another feature of the Ariston boiler that made it particularly suitable for this type of project: “One of the reasons these boilers were ideal for the project is that they have a minimum side clearance of only 5mm, which means kitchen cupboards can be installed closer, saving space. This is especially important in Housing Association properties, as they have to comply with regulations which require a minimum amount of cupboard space in the kitchen.” He also noted that Ariston provided a very good call-out service, with staff always attending site promptly and willing to help.

The E-COMBI 24kW boilers were installed either in the kitchen or, in some instances, at high level in a cupboard within the bathroom. This latter option was used in order to reduce the flue run or, where there was no suitable location within the kitchen. E-COMBI boilers feature multiple flue options which are designed to be completely adaptable to almost any situation encountered during installation and a wide range of flue pipe accessories virtually eliminates the need for alteration of flue components. Being light and compact, the boilers are easy to handle.

Ariston’s new E-COMBI condensing boiler is a SEDBUK Band A entry model to the latest Ariston boiler range which is designed to appeal to installers and end users alike. Features include simplicity of installation, familiar condensing technology and a mechanical time clock as standard in a good looking boiler which is easy to operate. Light and compact, this boiler is highly maneuverable, simple to position and available in three outputs: 24kW, 30kW and 38kW, the largest model achieving hot water flow rates of up to 15.6 litres per minute. The central heating temperature setting and instantaneous flow temperatures, self diagnostic LED, system pressure gauge and time clock are all easily viewed and accessed via the control panel on the boiler fascia. Optional control accessories can also be fitted to provide extended levels of comfort.
